Tuesday Tip: Cleaning Your Brushes, the Lazy Way!

If you're breaking out on your face, it may be due to your dirty makeup brushes. It's important to keep your brushes clean and bacteria free! I suggest giving your tools a deep cleaning once a week to get rid of all unwanted residue and buildup. This is my

lazy

method:

1. Use gentle soap to clean your brushes, I recommend baby shampoo.

2. Pour several drops into a bowl.

3. Mix the soap with warm water.

4. Submerge your dirty brushes into the bowl, but be cautious to not let the ferrule stay wet for too long, this will loosen the glue and make the bristles fall out.

5. Soak the brushes at an angle for 15 minutes. Rinse the brushes under warm water until the water runs clear.

6. Lay several paper towels out for your brushes to dry. Use a book (or something of that nature, I used my

book of quotes

) to heighten the drying plane.

7. Rest your brushes at a slight angle.

8. After 30 minutes, when the brushes have somewhat dried, take the book off and let the brushes dry flat.

I hope you guys found this method to be useful. I clean my brushes the lazy way once a week and give it the royal treatment once a month. Ann over at

wrote a very thorough entry on what I call the "royal treatment" cleanse for your brushes.

Happy Cleaning!
